About the Workshop:

The Slate Workshop, established since 1985, is situated in a renovated 18th century corn mill near the small village of Llangolman in West-Wales. The picture below shows the workshop and showroom building which is alongside the Eastern Cleddau River.

In the workshop we design and make unique, high quality items from Welsh slate. Richard hand-cuts his lettering using the traditional 'dummy' and chisel. We also offer the alternative of computer generated/sand-blasted designs. The photo below shows some of the tools Richard uses in hand-cutting the lettering and designs.

We make housenames and numbers, commemorative and business plaques, memorials and sundials to order. As well as these beautiful hand sculpted items, we have a selection of our clocks, barometers, lamp-bases, cheeseboards, planters, vases and bookends, tealights and tableware for sale in our showroom. Should you not find what you are looking for, we have portfolios of past work for your reference and produce work to commission. We also offer a postal service.
